In the course of events detailed in the game's opening cinematic, the State of Texas quickly seceded from the United States after California did on April 15, 2013, being the second state to declare sovereignty in the chaotic America left after the destruction of Washington, D.C. The seceding Texans took several neighboring states with them and re-established the Republic of Texas 177 years after it was first formed in 1836. The Republic of Texas can be noted from the introduction cinematic and its faction description as being one of the hottest areas of pro-secessionist sentiment prior to the breakup of the United States.

In game description: One might argue that the Republic of Texas was just one excuse away from existing since the formation of Texas itself. The Republic is made up of parts of the former states of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. Though regarded as beer swilling cowboys, and gun toting rabble, Texans are also known to live by no-nonsense rules and take a dim view of traitors and bureaucrats. Texans are ferociously independent and live just one step away from anarchy.

Territory[]

The Republic of Texas starts with the New Mexico Territory, Oklahoma Grasslands, and both Northern and Southern Texas.

Units[]

The Republic of Texas starts with and is able to manufacture an array of former U.S. military units. Texan units appear colored red on-map, and are:

  • Single-Use Units: Defense Tower, Partisan SC, Militia, 155mm M777, Bunker
  • Infantry: Heavy Infantry, Commandos, Engineers
  • Light Armor: Humvee, Striker, Bradley
  • Medium Armor: Sheridan, LAV, M8
  • Heavy Armor: FCS Hood, Abrams, M60
  • Anti-Air: Avenger, Vulcan, Chaparral
  • Artillery: Big Tom, Crusader, MERL, Paladin
  • Helicopter: Apache, Super Cobra, Warrior
  • Fighter: JSF, Super Hornet
  • Bomber: Stealth Bomber, A-10 Thunderbolt

The unique heavy tank developed by the Republic of Texas is the slow-moving but heavily armed and armored FCS Hood, which features a massive energy cannon that fires large blue spheres at targets. Texas is one of two factions to show its technological prowess by developing a highly advanced tank with an energy-based main gun- the other is the Confederacy and its own heavy tank, the FCS Lee. The FCS Hood is named after Confederate general and war hero John Bell Hood, who was not from Texas, but did command the 4th Texas Infantry and the Texas Brigade during his career with the C.S. Army in the first American Civil War.
